Purpose:

   Digi PortAssist Manager is a web-based network management
   system designed to support a growing number of Digi products.

   For additional information, see http://www.portassist.com.


Supported Digi Products:

   Digi DataFire RAS P/T/E (Release F drivers or greater)
   Digi DataFire RAS B     (Release F drivers or greater)
   Digi AccelePort RAS     (Release F drivers or greater)


Supported Operating Systems:

   Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 4 or greater


Supported Java Virtual Machines:

   Any Java 1.1 JVM


Supported Client Browsers:

   Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater
   Netscape Navigator 4.0 or greater

Installation:

   If you are already running a supported JVM in a supported OS,
   simply run Setup.exe from the PortAssist Manager installation
   directory.

   After successfully installing PortAssist Manager, click
   "Start\Programs\Digi PortAssist Manager\Launch PortAssist
   Manager" to start using it.

   If you need a JVM or have additional questions, go to
   http://www.portassist.com.


Removal:

   Use "Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs" to uninstall
   PortAssist Manager.


Bug Fixes:

   None.


Known Problems:

   As of release F of the Digi RAS and Sync drivers, the
   PortAssist Communication Agent uses UDP port 2362
   (IANA:digiman) to communicate with the PortAssist Manager
   application.  In addition, port 8080 and 9090 are used by
   the PortAssist Manager application to provide web-based
   management services. For general security reasons, Digi
   always recommends to protect your corporate network against
   any potential threats like outright attacks and improper
   usage, which could originate from both outside or within your
   own company. In the case of PortAssist Manager, system
   administrators are advised to alter their firewall settings
   accordingly to prevent unauthorized access to the management
   capabilities of all PortAssist components by restricting
   access to the respective ports to trusted users/peers only.

   The modem summary screen for AccelePort RAS adapters may
   show inaccurate data on idle channels.

   Servers with very high CPU utilization may result in inactive
   links, or "Agent Not Responding" messages.

   The D channel is improperly considered a B channel on Digi
   DataFire 30/60 adapters causing channel information to be
   displayed improperly.

   The "Digi PortAssist Manager" program group is not removed
   when PortAssist Manager is uninstalled.
