Supported Products Digi One Family PortServer TS Family Enhancements o Added support for hardware name strings in discovery replies. This allows new devices to be identified correctly. Bug Fixes o Changed the ping timeout from 120 to 30 seconds. The application would appear as if it were not responding when trying to contact devices assigned with bad network settings. Known Limitations The application uses multicast to communicate with devices. Anything that interferes with multicast will make the application inoperable. Examples of known conflicts: - Having a firewall between (or on) your PC and the target device - Having a router or other network hardware between your PC and the target device when the network hardware does not support multicast. - Running over a VPN or dial up connection that does not support multicast. It is possible to set the IP address and Subnet Mask of a target device to an address that will not be reachable by your PC. The device will seem to disappear in the Digi Device and Terminal Server Setup program. Generally, the device must be reset to recover. Care must be taken in choosing a valid IP address at configuration time. If you are attempting to reconfigure a device that was previously on a different network the device may not be reachable by your PC and will not be visible in the Device Discovery Utility program. Generally, the device must be reset to recover. History Version 1.0.2.0 (Revision A1) - September 17, 2002 o Initial release (previously called "Digi Device and Terminal Server Setup") Notes None.
