INTRODUCTION Digi Port Authority - Remote (DPAR) This software package provides a graphical interface to monitor SNMP information for Digi devices. It also features device discovery and IP assignment utilizing Digi's ADDP (Advanced Device Discovery Protocol). Be sure to upgrade your devices firmware to gain the most functionality out of DPAR. On the various supported UNIX's, this package requires that an X-Windows environment be installed in order to run. On all systems, this package requires a browser to display help files. DPAR is available for many operating systems. Visit support.digi.com to find DPAR and other software for your operating system. 2. PACKAGE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS The Digi Port Authority - Remote package can be installed using the rpm utility on the distribution file 40002188_.src.rpm or, on systems that do not have the rpm utility, by using the distribution file 40002188_.tgz. To install on a system with the rpm utility, do the following: 1. If the package has been previously installed on the target machine, remove it by doing: rpm -e digidpar 2. Place 40002188_.src.rpm in a suitable directory. 3. Newer versions of RPM use the rpmbuild command, otherwise use rpm: [rpm | rpmbuild] --rebuild 40002188.src.rpm 4. Scan the output of the previous command for a line that begins: Wrote: It will tell you the path to the rpm file that was built. Using that path execute the command: rpm -ihvv To install on a system that does not have the rpm utility, do the following: 1. If the package has been previously installed on the target machine, remove it. The example here assumes that the old source is in /usr/src: 1a. cd /usr/src/digidpar-/sme 1b. make unlink 1c. make uninstall 1d. cd ../.. 1e. rm -rf digidpar- 2. Place 40002188_.tgz in a suitable directory such as /usr/src 3. cd /usr/src 4. tar -xvzf 40002188_.tgz 5. cd digidpar-3.03.46/sme 6. make install 7. make link It is recommended that you do not remove the source tree since the makefiles are necessary for the uninstall procedure. Note that Digi part number versioning WILL NOT MATCH package versioning. Part number versions will be in the form 40002188_A, 40002188_A1, 40002188_B, etc. Package versioning is in the form Vx.y, where x is the major release level and y is the minor release level. o Digi Port Authority - Remote (dparemote) is installed in /opt/dg. 8.
