iDigi Device Manager Configuration
The iDigi Device Manager Configuration page sets up the connection to the iDigi Server so the Digi device server knows how to connect to the iDigi Server. The iDigi Server allows devices to be configured and managed from remote locations.
For more information about iDigi and how to remotely configure and manage this device, please visit www.idigi.com.
This device must be configured to properly communicate with the iDigi Server. First, you must configure this device to have a proper Device ID. By default, the Device ID is created from the MAC address of the device.
Upon proper configuration of the iDigi Device ID, you must configure the following settings:
Connection Settings
These settings are used in connecting to the iDigi Server.
In a device-initiated connection, the Digi device server attempts to reach the iDigi Server to establish the connection. An advantage of the device-initiated connection is that it can be used on any network, whether the device has a public or private IP address - as long as the iDigi Server is accessible on that network.
Enable Device-Initiated iDigi Connection
When enabled, this device will initiate the connection to the iDigi Server.
iDigi Server Address
The IP address or hostname of the iDigi Server.
Automatically reconnect to iDigi after being disconnected
If enabled, the device will wait the specified amount of time after a connection to the iDigi Server is ended, and then it will reconnect to the iDigi Server.
Advanced Settings
These settings are used in advanced situations and the defaults are typically suitable for most environments. These settings are used to control the keep alive settings of the various interfaces and should only be changed when the defaults do not properly work.
Disconnect when the iDigi Connection is idle
Idle Timeout
Enables or disables the idle timeout for the iDigi connection. If enabled, an idle connection will be ended after the specified amount of time. Note that keep-alive messages are considered to be normal packets and they will reset the idle timer.
Authenticate to server with a password
Password
If enabled, the device will send the password to the iDigi Server and the iDigi Server will validate the password before it allows any accesses to the device.
Receive/Transmit Interval
Timeouts
Specifies the keep-alive interval to specify for packets received and packets transmitted. These settings are used in conjunction with the Timeouts to signal when the connection has been lost. The Receive Interval specifies how frequently the iDigi Server expects to receive a keep-alive packet from the device if the iDigi connection is idle. The device will send keep-alive messages to the iDigi Server at that interval when idle. The Transmit Interval specifies how frequently the iDigi Server sends a keep-alive packet to the device if the iDigi connection is idle. The iDigi Server will send keep-alive messages to the device at that interval when idle.
Connection Method
Specifies the method by which the associated interface connects to the iDigi Server. The default TCP is typically good enough for most connections, and it is the most efficient method of connecting to the remote server in terms of speed and transmitted data bytes. If SSL option is selected, it establishes the connection using the Secure Sockets Layer.
Enabled validation of server SSL certificates
If SSL connection method is selected, it establishes SSL connection and validates certificate. Certificate must be loaded in the system. If this is not enabled and SSL connection method is selected, it still establishes SSL connection without certificate validation.
