If your device has its network settings already configured, skip this step and continue with the next one, .

Once your Android device is correctly connected and you have performed your first boot, you can configure the device's network settings. To do so follow these steps:

• In the android Home screen, click on the Applications icon:

  

• A new window opens listing all of the Android applications. Click on the Settings application shortcut:

  

• The Settings application lists all Android configurable options. In order to configure the network settings click on the Wireless & networks option:

  

• The new screen displays a list of the available Android device network interfaces as well as a menu entry to configure each one:

  

Configuring Ethernet:

• To configure the Ethernet interface, first you must enable it by clicking on the Ethernet list entry (1). After that, click on the Ethernet Settings entry to setup and manage the Ethernet interface (2):

  

• In the next window, click the Ethernet configuration option:

  

• A popup dialog will be displayed listing all available Ethernet settings. You can configure the interface to use DHCP or specify a static configuration:

  

To return to the Home screen, click User Board Button 2 to display the Android status bar. Next, click the Home button within the status bar to return to the Home screen, or click the Back button to go back to the previous window:

Configuring Wi-Fi:

• To configure the Wi-Fi interface, first you must enable it by clicking on the Wi-Fi list entry (1). After that, click on the Wi-Fi Settings entry to setup and manage the Wi-Fi interface (2):

  

• The next window displays a list of discovered access points to which you can connect to:

  

• Click on the access point you want to connect to. Depending on the access point security, you may be asked for a password or key. When done click Connect:

  

  

• To configure a static or DHCP IP address in the Wi-Fi interface, click on the Advanced settings option:

  

• In the next window you will be able to configure a static or DHCP IP address:

  

• In order to save changes, click User Board Button 2 to display the Android status bar. In the status bar, click the Settings button to display the application menu and then click Save to confirm IP configuration:

  

  

To return to the Home screen, click User Board Button 2 to display the Android status bar. Next, click the Home button within the status bar to return to the Home screen, or click the Back button to go back to the previous window:

After configuring your device, you need to create a remote device configuration. This configuration will be used by Digi ESP for Android to know where to transfer files and perform remote application launches and debugs.

In the main Digi ESP for Android window, click the Device Manager button from the Workbench's main toolbar:

The Device Manager dialog will be displayed:

To create a new remote device configuration, click the New remote configuration icon:

The new configuration will be created receiving a generic name which you can change:

The only parameter you will have to configure is the device's IP address. To retrieve your Android device's IP address, read Tips & Tricks > Retrieving device IP Address

Click on the Set Current button to make the configuration you just created the current one. Setting this configuration as the current one means that Digi ESP will use it to perform several operations that require interaction with the remote device.
