Release Notes (PN 93009367) ConnectPort Display Mxx-CE EOS (Embedded Operating System) 82001786_C and 82001931_A EOS October 7, 2008 INTRODUCTION This is a production release of firmware for the ConnectPort Display Mxx-CE family. This firmware is based on Windows CE 5.0. Its features include: - Windows Media Player for playing MPEG2 videos. - Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) client software. - PowerPoint viewer - Internet Explorer 6.0 - Support for field installable applications. - .NET 2.0 support See operating manual for more details. ENHANCEMENTS Digi Control Panel applet for firmware updates, video configuration, and info. Support for CPD-CE M44. Serial Ports 1 thru 4 are assigned to COM5-COM8. COM3 and COM4 are not assigned. Video resolution auto-detection. ActiveSync support for USB Port 2 of M22 and M22-BY. Disabled by default on M22, but enabled by default on M22-BY. MountAsRoot feature. The root folder is now backed by the NAND flash so that files written to the root folder and any subfolders are persistent. This means for example, that an application can be installed under \Windows\Programs and still be there after a reboot. NAND flash auto-partition. The NAND flash no longer has to be partitioned before it can be used. It is available right out-of-the box. SUPPORTED PRODUCTS ConnectPort Display M22-CE ConnectPort Display M22-CE-BY (BestBuy only). ConnectPort Display M44-CE BUG FIXES 1. 640x480 video resolution fixed. KNOWN ISSUES 1. Hot-plugging USB kbd/mouse can sometimes cause a reboot. 2. USB flash drives sometimes do not enumerate after being hot-plugged. 3. Hot-plugging a USB device as CE is booting can sometimes result in one or both USB ports refusing to enumerate until the unit is rebooted. 4. If the user needs to reformat the NAND Flash using the Storage Manager, the user MUST reboot after formatting but before using the NAND Flash volume. Writing files to the NAND Flash after formatting without an intervening reboot can cause data corruption. This is due to a bug in the Microsoft-provided FAL (Flash Adaptation Layer). 5. If a file copy operation to the "User Flash" volume (ie, NAND Flash) copies a file which exactly fits into the very last available sector on the volume (thereby completely filling up the volume), then no further writes, not even to delete a file, may be done to the Flash. The user will have to reformat the NAND Flash to recover use of the volume. This behavior is normally not seen because it is difficult to copy a set of files to the User Flash which _exactly_ fills the disk; usually the set of files will either fit or will be too large. This is due to a bug in the Microsoft-provided FAL (Flash Adaptation Layer). 6. If you are upgrading to this release from the initial production release (v1.01.0054), you MUST upgrade the bootloader BEFORE downloading. Please contact Digi technical support for assistance. 7. RDP Serial Port redirection does not work. DOCUMENTATION ERRATA None. HISTORY 82001786_B - Fixed Windows Media Player memory leak. Fixed NAND flash failure. French and German support. MPEG4 support. WMV and WMA support. Serial ports 1 and 2 support (COM3/COM4). 82001786_A - v1.01 Initial Release. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS None.
