INTRODUCTION

    This is a production release of firmware for Digi's ConnectPort X2
    Wireless M-Bus Gateway.
    
    The ConnectPort X2 with Wireless M-Bus provides a secure, reliable
    connection that adds monitoring capabilities between a Home Area Network
    (HAN) and an energy service provider�s management infrastructure. The
    gateway incorporates the Wireless M-Bus standard (EN13757-4:2005), which
    defines the communications protocol between devices such as water, gas,
    heat and electricity meters, in-home displays and concentrators. The
    ConnectPort X2 with Wireless M-Bus enables energy service providers to
    deploy HAN devices such as in-home displays, ideal for today�s smart grid
    initiatives.
    
    The M-Bus Gateway is intended to allow wireless M-Bus-enabled water, gas,
    and electric meters to connect to iDigi via Ethernet or to a Smart Energy
    network. This allows legacy M-Bus meters to be brought into the emerging
    Smart Energy infrastructure and to make meter information available for
    collection and distribution via iDigi. 

    The M-Bus Gateway will be a boxed product with enclosure and preprogrammed
    firmware. The device will fit within the existing ConnectPort X2 enclosure.
    The M-Bus Gateway will include a ConnectME 9210 and will connect M-Bus
    devices directly to iDigi. 

    These devices will be used within homes to connect M-Bus devices to the
    iDigi framework and/or a Smart Energy network. This will allow connecting
    customers meter information to be made available via an information portal,
    thus empowering customers to change usage habits based on their past
    consumption.
