Release Notes PN 93000548 Digi Connect WAN GSM 82001160_B EOS Digi Connect Software Version 1.7.0 January 13, 2005 INTRODUCTION This is a production release of firmware for the Digi Connect WAN GSM. The Digi Connect WAN GSM, part of the Digi Remote Site Management line of products, provides an alternative to traditional wired TCP/IP Wide Area Networks (WANs), utilizing global wireless Cellular technology to create primary and backup network connectivity. It offers an easy and cost-effective means of connecting virtually any remote location or device into the corporate IP network. SUPPORTED PRODUCTS Digi Connect WAN GSM ENHANCEMENTS A "ping" command was added to the commandline interface. By default, the serial port now exposes a commandline interface. The default terminal characteristics for console access are 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity. An enhanced display of NAT related status items are now available via the "display nat" CLI command. The IP statistics have been modified to include some NAT related data. SSHv2 services have been added. The mobile statistics have been enhanced to incorporate PPP statistics. PPP statistics have been enhanced to show total session time, session receive and transmit idle times, and bytes transmitted and received in the current session. Counters for various disconnection events have also been added. BUG FIXES A few cosmetic fixes were made to the online help for some of the commandline commands. In particular, line wrapping was adjusted for some commands with many options, and options for some commands were alphabetized. The "uptime" display was not correctly computing the number of days. The ICMP statistics in the unit have been corrected (two of the standard ICMP counters were not incrementing properly). The ethernet statistics have been fixed -- they were often incrementing the interface error counter (ifInErrors) incorrectly. The "forwarding" command had an inverted interpretation of command parameters, resulting in IP forwarding being turned on when off was intended, and vice-versa. A fix was put in place to correct for a class of Cellular network disconnect events not being propagated to the firmware properly, possibly resulting in periods of lost Cellular connectivity. A fix was put in place to make firmware updates over HTTP on the Cellular network more reliable. KNOWN ISSUES None. DOCUMENTATION ERRATA The following command is supported, but its description is not yet in the command reference documentation: display versions The "display versions" command accepts no parameters and lists the software components of the system, including their part number and versioning information.
