Release Notes PN 93000444_C Digi One TS, and PortServer TS 2/4 EOS 82000747_F August 16, 2002 INTRODUCTION This is a production release of firmware for the Digi One TS and PortServer TS 2/4. These devices provide high-performance serial port connectivity with added MEI support on first serial port, 802.3af powered Ethernet, and 9-30V DC power. These devices support a 10/100 mbps Ethernet network interface, TCP/IP, Telnet, Reverse Telnet, SNMP, PPP, SSHv2, PortBuffering, Ping-ARP, ADDP, DPA-Remote monitoring tool, and Digi's patented RealPort software for COM or TTY port control and management. SUPPORTED PRODUCTS Digi One TS PortServer TS 2 PortServer TS 4 ENHANCEMENTS Packets sent to UDP port corresponding to raw TCP ports (default: 2100 + port) will be sent to the serial port. Packets from the serial port can be configured to be sent to UDP hosts as well. See the 'set udpserial' and 'set udpdest' commands. Connection methods can be disabled using 'set secureaccess' to turn off unused or insecure connection methods. The Telnet serial port extension, RFC 2217, is now available. Ethernet speed and duplex settings are configurable with 'set ethernet'. Serial mark and space parity are now available in 'set line'. The cpconf functionality from the command line is now also available from the web user interface. The firmware also incorporates some changes to reduce the latency of packets transmitted over both the serial and network interfaces. These changes are active when the 'optimize' setting in the 'set config' command line is set to 'latency'. The old behaviour is available with the 'throughput' setting. Another new feature in this firmware is RTS toggle. When this feature is enabled with 'set flow rts=toggle', it will cause RTS to be active when data is transmitted and inactive otherwise. The optional 'set flow' settings, pre-delay and post-delay, determine the delays before and after transmitting data that RTS is held active. These values can be viewed with 'set flow show=rtstoggle'. BUG FIXES - Turning bin=on continues to send telnet negotiation string on an autoconnection - Memory leak when running Modbus protocol - If autoconnect fails, the unit prints "Connection failed" even when verbose messaging is disabled KNOWN LIMITATIONS - Latency optimization mode is not suited for high bandwidth applications.
