Release Notes PN 93000399_L Digi One Realport, PortServer TS 2/4 EOS 82000716_H July 15, 2003 NOTE: When upgrading to a new version of firmware for your Device Server, please ensure that you are running the most recent POST (Post-On-Self-Test) code as well. For the 82000716_H firmware release this would be the 82000679_C1 POST. Instructions for upgrading the POST are in ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. INTRODUCTION This is a production release of firmware for the Digi One RealPort and PortServer TS 2/4. SUPPORTED PRODUCTS Digi One Realport PortServer TS 2 PortServer TS 4 ENHANCEMENTS - Support for RFC 1215 traps - Base socket granularity of 1 - RTS toggle support BUG-FIXES - Auth table entry removal not persistent across reboots - Unwanted behavior using 'admin' command in a menu KNOWN LIMITATIONS - Latency optimization mode is not suited for high bandwidth applications. - Firmware upgrades should only be performed over a fast, reliable network. An Ethernet LAN is recommended. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -------------- | RTS Toggle | -------------- When this feature is enabled with 'set flow rts=toggle', it will cause RTS to be active when data is transmitted and inactive otherwise. The optional 'set flow' settings, pre-delay and post-delay, determine the delays before and after transmitting data that RTS is held active. These values can be viewed with 'set flow show=rtstoggle'. A TFTP server will be required for the following steps: ---------------------- | Upgrading firmware | ---------------------- Upgrading the POST and EOS -------------------------- When upgrading from a firmware release prior to 82000716_B, the POST code must be upgraded first. The release history below identifies the versions of firmware and the compatible versions of POST code. If you are unsure which version of POST you are running, upgrade to the most recent version. The most recent POST code, 82000679_C1, is located at ftp://ftp.digi.com/support/firmware/dg1rp-ts2/. This can be done from the OS with the command: boot load-post=:82000679C1.bin A reset is necessary to allow the new POST to run. boot action=reset Upgrade the EOS with the command: boot load=:82000716_H.bin The unit should be reset after the EOS upgrade as well. --------------------------- Running and Interpreting Digi One Realport PortServer TS 2/4 POST (Corrects the Table of LED Activity and indication.) The Power-On/Status LED will flicker at a very fast rate while the Power- On-Self-Tests are run. This will take about 6 seconds from when the power is applied. Once the tests are completed, a three-digit status-code is flashed on the LED, the LED is turned on, and the device is operational. HISTORY 93000339K: 2002-11-25 82000716_G - Autoconnect supports DNS and stores name instead of IP address - Reverse telnet adds striplf support - Can now configure socket IDs up to 50000 - Running out of memory when network connections become unavailable - MIO behavior was inconsistent with documentation 93000399J: 2002-08-16 82000716_F - Improved latency in new latency optimization mode - UDP to serial port connectivity - Secure access feature to disable insecure connection methods - RTS Toggle - RFC 2217, Telnet extension for serial port control - Configurable ethernet duplex and speed settings - Serial mark and space parity - cpconf support in web interface BUG FIXES - Turning bin=on continues to send telnet negotiation string on an autoconnection - Memory leak when running Modbus protocol - If autoconnect fails, the unit prints "Connection failed" even when verbose messaging is disabled 93000399H: 2002-06-03 82000716_E The "E" release adds support for TCP Tunneling and speeds up the re-establishment of auto connections after a session has been closed or disconnected. DHCP will now handle an 'infinite lease' assignment and the DHCP server selection has been enhanced. 93000399G: 2002-04-08 82000716_D - Production version with feature enhancements. Adds support for: - PPP - Ping/ARP - Force DCD option (auto connect 3-wire) - User Data - ADDP Users must upgrade the POST code to the most recent, 82000679_C1 release. This firmware release is compatible with the 82000679_B or later versions of POST code. BUG FIXES - The MS tool SNMPUTIL prematurely exits during a 'walk'(#8147) - If autoconnect fails it prints "Connection failed" after about 2 minutes. (#8235) - Does not re-establish an autoconnected session after a network drop.(#7836) 93000399F: 2002-01-28 82000716_C1 - Adds support for Digi One IA device, as well as the ability to configure the device server using a web browser and Modbus protocol support. The release also contains some performance enhancements in the Digi One IA device. Users must upgrade the POST code to the most recent, 82000679_C1 release. This firmware release is compatible with the 82000679_B or later versions of POST code. 93000399E: 2002-01-16 82000716C - Adds support for the Digi One IA device. This release adds HTTP. MANUAL ERRATA - The manual states that DHCP is only available on the TS-8 and TS-16 products. DHCP is now available on this product. Users must upgrade the POST code to the most recent, 82000679_C1 release. This firmware release is compatible with the 82000679_B or later versions of POST code. 93000399D: 2002-12-20 82000716_B - Consolidate firmware for feature enhancements.
