Release Notes PN 93000399_G Digi One Realport, Digi One IA Realport, PortServer TS 2/4 EOS 82000716_D April 8, 2002 NOTE: When upgrading to a new version of firmware for your Device Server, please ensure that you are running the most recent POST (Post-On-Self-Test) code as well. For the 82000716_D firmware release this would be the 82000679_C1 POST. Instructions for upgrading the POST are in ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. INTRODUCTION This is a production release of firmware for the Digi One and PortServer TS 2/4. SUPPORTED PRODUCTS Digi One Realport Digi One IA Realport PortServer TS 2 PortServer TS 4 ENHANCEMENTS The "D" release adds support for PPP, User Data, Ping/ARP, Force DCD option (auto connect 3-wire), and ADDP - see ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. The "D" release contains some latency enhancements in the Digi One IA device, and PortServer TS 2. The "D" release also supports a web interface to set the serial port base TCP socket value. BUG FIXES - The MS tool SNMPUTIL prematurely exits during a 'walk'(#8147) - If autoconnect fails it prints "Connection failed" after about 2 minutes. (#8235) - Does not re-establish an autoconnected session after a network drop.(#7836) KNOWN LIMITATIONS - TS4 & DORP will run into a memory leak problem by running Modbus(#8378) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ADDP (Advanced Device Discovery Protocol) - Allows the system to identify all the Digi devices attached to a network by sending out a multicast packet. If a Digi device has ADDP it will respond to the multicast packet and identify itself to the application sending the multicast. If your Digi device is not found, multicast forwarding may need to be enabled on your router. ADDP also allows users to assign an IP address to devices with a 0.0.0.0 IP address. The assign IP address capability has been implemented in the Digi software utitilty, DPAR (Digi Port Authority - Remote) version 2.01 and later. To assign an IP address from DPAR: Run ADDP discovery, select a device with an IP address of 0.0.0.0, then press Configure. The "D" released firmware and release notes are located at ftp://ftp.digi.com/support/firmware/dg1rp-ts2/ DPAR and its release notes are located at ftp://ftp.digi.com/support/utilities/dpar/ A TFTP server will be required for the following steps: Upgrading the POST and EOS -------------------------- When upgrading from a firmware release prior to 82000716_B, the POST code must be upgraded first. The release history below identifies what versions of firmware are compatible with which versions of POST code. If you are unsure which versions of POST code you have, we recommend you upgrade to the most recent version. The most recent POST code, 82000679_C1, is located at ftp://ftp.digi.com/support/firmware/dg1rp-ts2/. This can be done from the OS with the command: boot load-post=:82000679C1.bin A reset is necessary to allow the new POST to run. boot action=reset Upgrade the EOS with the command: boot load=:82000716D.bin The unit should be reset after the EOS upgrade as well. --------------------------- Running and Interpreting Digi One Realport PortServer TS 2/4 POST (Corrects the Table of LED Activity and indication.) The Power-On/Status LED will flicker at a very fast rate while the Power- On-Self-Tests are run. This will take about 6 seconds from when the power is applied. Once the tests are completed, a three-digit status-code is flashed on the LED, then the LED is turned on and the device is operational.
