These adapters provide WAN connectivity in a Windows 2000 environment. They support a broad range of WAN connections, including V.90 modems and ISDN (BRI and PRI). KNOWN LIMITATIONS Installation/User Interface: You must follow the procedure outlined in the "DRIVER INSTALLATION NOTES FOR WINDOWS 2000" section of this document to properly install the driver set. Within the wizard mode, if invalid input has been entered and back button is pressed, an error message may appear indicating that the input is invalid. A valid input needs to be entered to be able to go back. PortAssist Viewer: PortAssist Viewer must be started manually. Select "Start|Run" and type "Digiview" as the program to open. RAS Adapters: On Channelized T1 Wink Start Trunks without dial tone supervision, modems must be initialized with ATX3 for dial out. When configuring dial up modem service for a line, all modems on the line should be configured since incoming calls may be assigned to any channel. On ISDN Trunks, the following rules are applied to modem dial strings: a) A comma (delay) in the first or second position is allowed. b) then the first non-numeric character terminates the dial string (e.g. 9,12345678 is a valid dial string and 9,1,234-5678 is not). DRIVER INSTALLATION NOTES FOR WINDOWS 2000 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hardware not yet installed ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have not yet installed DataFire RAS PTE or DataFire PRIme hardware in your computer, the following procedure should be used for installation. If you have already installed the hardware, see the instructions in the next section (Hardware already installed). Installation instructions for advanced users: 1. Remove Existing INF Files – Run clndigi.cmd from the driver installation media. 2. Install Adapter Hardware – Shut down the system, ensure the power is off and install the new adapter hardware into the computer. 3. Install Drivers – Restart the computer, wait for the “Found New Hardware Wizard” to recognize the new hardware. Follow the instructions to locate the drivers. This driver is not yet signed; click “Yes” to ignore the system warnings and proceed with the installation. 4. Complete the Installation – Follow the instructions to enter information about your adapter. Click “Next” and “Finish” to complete the installation. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” may start several times during the installation depending on the number and type of adapters you are installing. Detailed installation instructions: Remove Existing INF Files 1. Run the program clndigi.cmd, this program is located on the driver installation media or in the folder you downloaded the driver to. Install Adapter Hardware 1. Shut down the system and ensure the power is off. 2. Install the new adapter hardware by following the instructions provided in the adapter box. Install Drivers 1. Restart the computer. 2. Wait for the “New Hardware Found” wizard to start and click “Next” to continue. 3. When prompted, select “Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)” and click “Next.” 4. If you have a CD with the new drivers, select “CD-ROM drives” and click “Next.” If you downloaded or copied the driver to your system, select “Specify a location” and click “Next.” When prompted, type the name of the folder where you placed the new driver files. 5. When the “Found New Hardware Wizard” reports that it has found netdgdxb.inf, click “Next” to continue the installation. 6. The system may report “Digital Signature Not Found,” during subsequent installation steps, click “Yes” to ignore these warnings and continue driver installation. Complete the Installation 1. Follow the remaining instructions to enter information about your adapter. Click “Finish” and allow the wizard to finish the installation. 2. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” may appear several times during the installation depending on the number and type of adapters you are installing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hardware already installed ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have already installed DataFire RAS PTE or DataFire PRIme adapters in your computer and have completed the “New Hardware Found” wizard, the following procedure is required to update the drivers. If your hardware is not already installed, refer to the previous section (Hardware not yet installed). Installation instructions for advanced users: 1. Record Existing Settings – Use Device Manager to query the existing DataFire adapter settings. 2. Uninstall Existing Drivers – Use Device Manager to remove all DataFire adapters. 3. Remove Existing INF Files – Run clndigi.cmd from the driver installation media. 4. Install New Driver – Using Device Manager, scan for hardware changes. Follow the “Found New Hardware Wizard” instructions to locate the new driver. This driver is not yet signed; click “Yes” to ignore the system warnings and proceed with the installation. Right click the DataFire adapter entry. 6. Select “Properties” 7. Select the “ISDN” tab and record all settings. Pay particular attention to switch types and telephone numbers. 8. Select the “Advanced” tab and record all settings. Pay particular attention to line configuration settings. 9. Leave Device Manager open for the next steps. Uninstall Existing Drivers 1. If not already started, invoke Device Manager. Device Manager is available by selecting “Start|Run…” and typing “devmgmt.msc” as the program to open. 2. Wait while Device Manager starts. 3. In the Device Manager tree, open the “Network adapters” category. 4. For each DataFire adapter listed, follow steps 5 through 7 to uninstall. 5. Right click the DataFire adapter entry. 6. Select “Uninstall…” 7. Wait for Device Manager to complete the removal, the DataFire entry will be removed from the tree when Device Manager is finished. 8.
