Release Notes 93000342_F for Digi RAS and Sync Drivers Windows NT 4.0 Windows NT 3.51 v3.4.40 Release Date: 08/16/1999 Please reference the following number(s) when searching the Digi FTP/WWW site for the latest software packages: Software Image P/N 40001974_F Purpose: This set of drivers allow all Digi RAS and Sync cards (listed in the Adapters Supported section of these release notes) to co-exist on the same system. All previously supported features for the supported adapters exist in this release. New Features: 1. PPP protocol support for the Sync570 adapters. 2. Support for IBM Comm Server NT v6.0 for the Sync570 adapters. 3. Alpha processor support for all supported adapters. 4. Windows NT 3.51 support for DataFire RAS and AccelePort RAS adapters. 5. PortAssist Communication Agent service is installed providing communication with PortAssist Manager. This agent uses UDP port 2362 by default, but may be configured for a different port on the Services tab of the Network Control Panel. Adapters Supported: Digi DataFire Sync2000 (Windows NT 4.0 only) Digi DataFire Sync/570 (Windows NT 4.0 only) Digi DataFire RAS P/T/E (Windows NT 4.0 & 3.51) Digi DataFire RAS B4U (Windows NT 4.0 & 3.51) Digi DataFire RAS B4ST (Windows NT 4.0 & 3.51) Digi AccelePort RAS 4A (Windows NT 4.0 & 3.51) Digi AccelePort RAS 8A (Windows NT 4.0 & 3.51) Upgrading: For user who have already installed driver software for the supported adapters an update of the adapter is required to install this new driver. 1. Select the Network Control Panel Applet. 2. Select the Adapter tab. 3. Select one of the supported installed adapters. 4. Click the Update button. 5. Enter the appropriate install directory (e.g. D:\i368 for Intel) Bug Fixes: 1. This release includes all bug fixes from any previous version of driver software release for the supported adatpers. 2. Various minor user interface bugs fixed. Know Problems: A. Installation/User Interface: 1. Within the wizard mode, if invalid input has been entered and back button is pressed, an error message still appears indicating that the input is invalid. A valid input needs to be entered to be able to go back. B. PortAssist Viewer: 1. The PortAssist Viewer shows a Line Speed and Configured Baud Rate of zeros for the SYNC/570 if the link is externally clocked. If the link is internally clocked both values show the Configured Baud Rate. The SYNC/570 does not calculate the Line Speed. Future versions will grey-out the Line Speed, and show the Configured Baud Rate for internally clocked lines (externally clocked lines will show a Configured Baud Rate of zero). 2. PortAssist Viewer will show a protocol of SDLC for QLLC SNA links. Use the raw data for problem diagnosis. C: RAS Adapters: 1. Resetting a modem causes the settings stored in NVRAM for other modems to reset. 2. Caller ID data is currently ignored. 3. Channelized T1 Wink Digits are currently ignored. 4. On Channelized T1 Wink Start Trunks without dial tone supervision, modems must be initialized with ATX3 for dial out. 5. Currently, modems are not automatically assigned to open serial ports when calls are received. They are assigned based on the timeslot of the call. Therefore, unless all the serial ports to the board are open, it is possible a call will not be answered. 6. On ISDN Trunks, the following rules are applied to modem dial strings: a) A comma (delay) in the first or second position is allowed. b) then the first non-numeric character terminates the dial string (e.g. 9,12345678 is a valid dial string and 9,1,234-5678 is not). 7. BRI and PRI adapters do not function properly under RAS when installed in the same machine. This is a known limitation of NT 4.0.
