Release Notes 93000335_E for Digi DataFire and AccelePort RAS Novell NetWare Driver Package v1.0.9 Release Date: 5/24/1999 Please reference the following number(s) when searching the Digi FTP/WWW site for the latest software packages: Software Image P/N 40001908_E - NetWare RAS Driver Package Enhancements Only the countries supported by the individual host adapter ae selectable in the pick list. DataFire RAS B4ST support has been added. Modem support for additional countries added. Bug Fixes Minor interface glitches in the configuration application have been fixed. An problem executing the firmware on some adapters has been fixed. Fixed bug with DGDXB.NLM where use of the name "dgdxb" on the server console to access status and other functions failed to work on Netware 5, but rather caused Netware to attempt to reload DGDXB.NLM. You must now use "dxbutil" to access these functions. Fixed bug with DFCAPRAS.NLM where use of the name "dfcapras" on the server console to access status and other functions failed to work on Netware 5, but rather caused Netware to attempt to reload DFCAPRAS.NLM. You must now use "dfcap" to access these functions. General firmware bug fixes. Known limitations This release has known fax issues. This release is intended for NW Connect and NIAS use. Caller ID data is currently ignored. Channelized T1 Wink Digits are currently ignored. On Channelized T1 Wink Start Trunks without dial tone supervision, modems must be initialized with ATX3 for dial out. On Channelized T1 Trunks all calls are routed to the serial driver. On ISDN Trunks, voice calls are routed to the serial driver, digital calls are routed to the ISDN driver. Currently, modems are not automatically assigned to open serial ports when calls are received. They are assigned based on the timeslot of the call. Therefore, unless all the serial ports to the board are open, it is possible a call will not be answered. Large MLPPP bundles greater than 23 will fail. ISDN numbers must not contain any non-numeric characters (e. g. "-"). On ISDN Trunks, the following rules are applied to modem dial strings: a) A comma (delay) in the first or second position is allowed, b) then the first non-numeric character terminates the dial string (e.g. 9,12345678 is a valid dial string and 9,1,234-5678 is not) Manual Errata For both PRI and T1 configurations, 24 AIO ports will be reported per line. However for PRI configurations only 23 ports (PRI=23B+1D) will actually be available. This is normal. If this "extra" unavailable port is of concern to you, please delete it. Note however, that if you change the configuration from PRI to T1, this deleted port will have to be manually readded or you will not have access to the full 24 ports under T1. When manually copying the driver files to a server for installation with Novell's INSTALL.NLM, files must be copied to a subdirectory named RAS. However, this subdirectory can be on any path. The following examples will all work: SYS:RAS SYS:DIGI_TMP\RAS SYS:\SUBDIR1\SUBDIR2\SUBDIR3\RAS All boards should be reconfigured by deleteing the SYS:SYSTEM\DIGIINTL\*.cfg configuration files and using the DGRASCFG.NLM utility. If DGMNGR.NLM reports an error during initialization one should delete the *.cfg files (EXCEPT FOR DFCAPRAS.CFG) from the SYS:SYSTEM\DIGIINTL directory and reconfigure the digital lines. For modem initialization string use the Novell provided "Rockwell compatible 56k (56 Flex)" string. ISDN modem use ISDN(AT control) under standard Novell initialization strings. The following software modules have some command line options that could prove useful. DGPAV.NLM (User must manually load) Digi Portassist Viewer - Views ISDN D Channel traces. Help: Load DGPAV -? Usage Example: Load DGPAV -B0 -L1 -C DGDXB.NLM (Loaded at system boot) Shows card statistics Help: dxbutil -? Usage Example: dxbutil status DFCAPRAS.NLM (ISDN Driver, loaded at system boot) With ISDN configured, shows ISDN statistics Help: DFCAP -? Usage Example: DFCAP linestatus brd=0
