DigiWARE Release Notes 93000159J for Digi RealPort SCO OpenServer Release 5.x SCO UNIX System V, Release 3.2v4 SCO UnixWare Release 2.x & 7.x Software Package P/N 75000159J Diskette P/N 40001044J V2.4.0 (3.5") (SCO OpenServer) Diskette P/N 40001130F V3.0.2 (3.5") (UnixWare) 11/30/99 1. Changes This release is a feature upgrade of the UnixWare RealPort Software. The UnixWare driver is now a loadable module. There is no need to reboot your system after the driver package has been installed. This also allows the capability of only updating the software drivers without reconfiguring the RealPort devices. Also, it is now possible to use the UnixWare Serial Manager (Unix Ware 7.1.0 and later) to set up port monitors for RealPort. The OSR5 driver now supports the higher baud rates in OpenServer. It is also possible to set the higher baud rate without using the fastbaud option on ditty. The fastbaud flag is still available for earlier versions of SCO. Man pages have been added for the RealPort daemon and configuration program (ncxd.1 and ncxaconfig.1). The ditty printer option was modified to allow the printer connection to close without losing the current terminal settings for that port. 2. Bug Fixes A problem where a nohupped process could prevent the ncxd daemon from reconnecting properly to the PortServer was fixed. Fixed a problem where the RealPort software failed to determine the correct number of ports whenever EM modules were added or deleted. A timing problem in the driver could result in a kernel panic on a multi-processor machine. This has been fixed. 3. Known Limitations Under UnixWare, the open count for the RealPort devices are sometimes reported incorrectly by the OS. This may prevent the driver from being unloaded. A system reboot is necessary to clear this up. If the network connection is lost between the RealPort driver and the PortServer, it may take several minutes before communications can be re-established with the PortServer.
