============================================================================ DigiWARE Release Notes 93000159G for Digi PortServer I & II SCO OpenServer Release 5 SCO UNIX System V, Release 3.2v4 Software Package P/N 75000159G Diskette P/N 40001044G V2.0.2 (3.5") PortServer I Firmware: ps3410 PortServer II Firmware: psII300.bin Software Manual P/N 92000159D 03/17/97 1. Enhancements Improve the input performance in raw mode. 2. Bug Fixes Fix the PortServer reset problem which all ports lose connections with the Realport driver. Fix a potential system memory leak problem when running applications in a busy system. Fix a potential system panic problem which is caused by accessing to unconfigured ports in EBI modules. The following problem reports will be closed by this release: 4625 - Daemon dies 4629 - Slow terminal, printer 4680 - Lost connection to PortServer 4767 - Ports resetting on remote PS II 4821 - Enabled ports drop off to login 4833 - System lockup 4835 - Disconnects and other problems 4858 - Slow performance in Word 3. Known Limitations Because of timing issues in the release of this driver, it is highly recommended that you contact Digi's Tech Support to determine which version of the Firmware is most desirable. If a PortServer loses power it may be necessary to wait for up to 2 minutes before communication is re-established with that PortServer. If a login is not seen for a terminal after that time it may be necessary to kill the getty associated with that port so init will respawn the process. Ditty "printer" is not supported. If this functionality is needed, use "sleep" to hold the port open, as in: sleep 999999 < /dev/ttya?? & 4. Manual Errata During the installation you have the option of enabling a tftp boot for the PortServer. This is normally not necessary, the assumption being that new PortServers will ship with the newest firmware in EPROM. Set up the PortServer as: set port range=* dev=host. alternatively: set port range=* dev=mout (or dev=mio) is effective. For ports where a 3-wire cable is being used setting dev=prn is recommended. It may also be necessary to: set config realport=771. 771 is the default TCP port number and it is also the default during the driver installation. A configurable timing variable for each PortServer has been added to the /etc/conf/pack.d/nts/space.c file. When experiencing heavy network traffic cause by a remote PortServer, increasing that value from 100 to 1000 should help with some impact in the overall performance. A kernel rebuild is required fot the change to take effect. ============================================================================
