Enhancements Improve the input performance in raw mode. 2. Bug Fixes Fix a potential system memory leak problem when running applications in a busy system. Make sure the daemon gets start in the fast system. Fix a race condition problem which some ports are not accessible after the PortServer is rebooted. Fix the EBI modules configuration problem for PortServer II. Make sure all printer ports are accessible. 3. Known Limitations Because of timing issues in the release of this driver, it is highly recommended that you contact Digi's Tech Support to determine which version of the Firmware is most desirable. If a PortServer loses power it may be necessary to wait for up to 2 minutes before communication is re-established with that PortServer. If a login is not seen for a terminal after that time it may be necessary to kill the getty associated with that port so init will respawn the process. Ditty "printer" is not supported. If this functionality is needed, use "sleep" to hold the port open, as in: sleep 999999 < /dev/ttya?? & 4. Manual Errata During the installation you have the option of enabling a tftp boot for the PortServer. This is normally not necessary, the assumption being that new PortServers will ship with the newest firmware in EPROM. - 1 - Set up the PortServer as: set port range=* dev=host. alternatively: set port range=* dev=mout (or dev=mio) is effective. For ports where a 3-wire cable is being used setting dev=prn is recommended. It may also be necessary to: set config realport=771. 771 is the default TCP port number and it is also the default during the driver installation. ======================================================================= DigiWARE Release Notes 93000159F for Digi PortServer I & II UNIX SysV Release 4 Software Package P/N 75000159F Diskette P/N 40001130D V2.0.1 (3.5") PortServer I Firmware: ps344 PortServer II Firmware: psII203.bin Software Manual P/N 92000159D 03/15/96 The name of the driver is now RealPort rather than NetC/X. 1. If a PortServer loses power it may be necessary to wait for up to 2 minutes before communication is re-established with that PortServer. Manual Errata During the installation you have the option of enabling a tftp boot for the PortServer. This is normally not necessary, the assumption being that new PortServers will ship with the newest firmware in EPROM. The firmware is in /tftpboot, it will be named ps???, where ??? is the version, if the version reported by the PortServer on doing "set config" is older, you may wish to use the boot file. Set up the PortServer as: set port range=* dev=host. - 1 - alternatively: set port range=* dev=mout (or dev=mio) is effective. For ports where a 3-wire cable is being used setting dev=prn is recommended.
