Release Notes PN 93000715 Digi Connect Wi-Wave (R6000) Windows XP Embedded Driver Version 1.20.01, 11/10/2010 1. INTRODUCTION This is a release of the Digi Connect Wi-Wave (R6000) Windows XP Driver software. This package contains: wiwave6k.sys - Wi-Wave kernel mode driver wiwave6k.inf - Wi-Wave Installation file wiwave6k.sld - Wi-Wave XP Embedded component description file. 2. SUPPORTED PRODUCTS Digi Connect Wi-Wave R6000 USB Wireless Adapter 3. SUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEMS Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP1, SP2, and SP3) Microsoft Windows XP Embedded (SP1, SP2, and SP3) 4. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS XP Embedded Installation Instructions: A. Unzip 40002813.zip into an empty folder (e.g. c:\wiwave). Using the Windows XP Embedded Component Database Manager, import the .sld file (wiwave6k.sld) into your database. Before importing make sure to check the option "Copy repository files to repository root" B. In the WindowsXP Embedded Target Designer: Add the follow components: a. "Digi ConnectPort Wiwave (R6000) USB Wireless Adapter" located under: Hardware -> Devices -> Network Adapters. b. "Wireless Zero Configuration" located under: Software-> System -> "Networking & Communications" -> Infrastructure C. Build and Install your OS image according to the instructions provided with the Windows XP Embedded Target Designer. XP Professional Installation Instructions: A. Make sure that WZC (Wireless Zero Configuration) Service is enabled. It should be enabled by default. If not read instructions at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms706593%28VS.85%29.aspx B. Unzip 40002813.zip into an empty folder (e.g. c:\wiwave). C. Connect adapter to USB. D. "Found New Hardware Wizard" displays a dialog box asking: "Can Windows connect to Windows Update to search for software? Select "No, not this time" and click Next. Next dialog box asks: "What do you want the wizard to do?" Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click Next. Next dialog box displays: "Search for the best driver in these locations.... Check "Include this location in the search:" and enter the location of the folder where you unzipped 40002813.zip. Then click Next. Finally, you may get a message indicating that you are installing software for a driver which has not passed Windows Logo testing. Click "Continue Anyway". E. The Wiwave drivers will be installed and "Found New Hardware Wizard" should display a message to indicate that it has finished the installation. Click Finish. 5. HISTORY: 1. 11/10/2010 Initial Release 6. KNOWN ISSUES: - Currently Wi-Wave can only be configured using Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC). - Power Management is unsupported. Wi-Wave will prevent Windows from entering standby or hibernate. - The WZC Wireless Network View will not refresh while the Wi-Wave adapter is connected. - Channels 12-14 are not enabled by default but can be configured through the registry. - Driver supports windows XP 32 bit only - Only 802.11b/g are supported
