KNOWN LIMITATIONS Driver Installation and Upgrade: Updating some adapters may require additional steps not listed in the online documentation. Please review the "INSTALLATION AND UPGRADE NOTES FOR WINDOWS 2000" section found later in this document to see if your adapter requires these steps. PortAssist Viewer: PortAssist Viewer is the diagnostics application used to troubleshoot problems on your WAN connections. There is no Start menu link to run PortAssist Viewer. To run PortAssist Viewer, choose Start|Run and enter Digiview. If you reconfigure or install adapters while PortAssist Viewer is running, you are prompted to reboot for those changes to take effect. PortAssist Manager: PortAssist Manager is the web based monitoring tool for Acceleport Xp, Acceleport RAS, and DataFire RAS adapters. If you reconfigure or install adapters while PortAssist Manager is running, you are prompted to reboot for those changes to take effect. RAS Adapters: On Channelized T1 Wink Start Trunks without dial tone supervision, modems must be initialized with ATX3 for dial out. When configuring dial up modem service for a line, all modems on the line should be configured since incoming calls may be assigned to any channel. On ISDN Trunks, the following rules are applied to modem dial strings: 1. A comma (delay) in the first or second position is allowed. 2. Then the first non-numeric character terminates the dial string (e.g. 9,12345678 is a valid dial string and 9,1,234-5678 is not). AccelePort Xp Adapters: RTS toggle is not supported. SYNC Adapters: When using the SDLC interface, the maximum BTU (Basic Transmission Unit) is limited to 521 bytes. This is a known limitation of the IBM SDLC link service provided in SNA Server. See the Microsoft SNA article, "Maximum BTU Limit for Dumb SDLC Interface" for more information. Sync/570 Adapters: When installing additional Sync/570 adapters, a system reboot is required to complete the installation. The new adapters will not function until the system is rebooted. E1R2 Support: E1R2 is currently supported as a beta feature. If you are not a beta tester for this product, please do not select E1R2. INSTALLATION AND UPGRADE NOTES FOR WINDOWS 2000 Driver Installation: If this is the first time you are installing any of the supported adapters, follow the Windows 2000 Setup instructions in the online documentation for your adapter. Driver Upgrade (From Release J, with DataFire RAS PTE): If you are upgrading from the J release (version 3.9) and have a DataFire RAS PTE installed, you must remove the existing driver prior to performing the upgrade. 1. From Control Panel, run Add/Remove Hardware wizard. Follow the instructions to Uninstall each of the Digi DataFire RAS adapter(s). 2. Run the program DgUpdate.exe. This will ensure the new drivers will be installed correctly. DgUpdate.exe is located in the folder with your downloaded drivers. 3. From Control Panel, run Add/Remove Hardware wizard. Follow the instructions to Add a new hardware device. Your system will be scanned for any of the supported adapters.Follow the instructions to install and configure your adapters. 4. Add new supported adapters at this time. Shut down the system and install the new hardware. When the system is rebooted, the new hardware will automatically be detected and installed. Driver Upgrade (From Windows 2000 CD Driver): If you are upgrading from the driver included on the Windows 2000 CD (version 3.4), follow the online documentation to upgrade the driver. A system reboot will be required to complete the upgrade. HISTORY Version 3.9 ENHANCEMENTS DataFire PRIme PCI T1 adapters now support PPP and Frame Relay.
