Installation Instructions for Dial-Up Networking ------------------------------------------------ Before you start, verify that Dial-Up Networking is installed in your system (Start->Programs->Accessories menu to verify). If it is not part of the menu system, you could add this software element using "Add/remove Programs" in Control panel. * Double-click the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in Control Panel. * Click on "Windows Setup" Tab. * Select the "Communications" row and then click on Details button. * Make sure that Dial-Up Networking is "checked". * Click OK. * Windows will copy files to the system and will prompt you accordingly. Installation Instructions for ISDN Accelerator Pack 1.1 ------------------------------------------------------- Having downloaded (or otherwise obtained) the ISDN Accelerator Pack 1.1: * Assuming the downloaded file is in a diskette in drive a:, go to start menu and select "Run". * Type a:\msisdn11.exe and click OK. This will install the ISDN Accelerator Pack. * Restart your system. Installation Instructions for Dial-Up Adapter (Microsoft's logical adapter) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Having Double-clicked the Network icon in Control Panel: If the Dial-Up adapter is not already present. * Click Add, click Adapter in the list, then click Add. * You are prompted with "Select Network adapters" dialog box. * Under Manufacturers select "Microsoft" and under Network Adapters select "Dial-Up Adapter". * Press OK. Installation Instructions for Digi Adapters ------------------------------------------- Note: Dial-Up Networking, ISDN Accelerator Pack and Dial-Up Adapter should be installed prior to installation of the Digi Adapters. Verify the previous three installation procedures. 1. Having Double-clicked the Network icon in Control Panel. * Click Add, click Adapter in the list, then click Add. * When prompted, click Have Disk. * Enter the location of the Digi driver files, then Click OK. This will either be the directory to which the driver was downloaded, or the diskette you received from Digi. * In the list, select Digi International as your Manufacturer, select the type of Digi Network Adapter you wish to install, then click OK. Note: You may not be prompted for a Manufacturer. In this case, simply select the Digi Network Adapter you wish to install. * Click OK. 2. You will be asked to enter your I/O address range. Make sure that the I/0 address selected matches the jumper settings on your board. For the PCIMAC family of adapters, you will also be asked to enter your memory address. Select an available memory address based on what is available for your machine. You can view used memory by double-clicking on the System icon in the Control Panel, clicking on the Device Manager tab, double-clicking on Computer, and then clicking Memory. 3. Click OK. 4. The configuration wizard will now start. After reading the first screen, Click Next. 5. Enter your switch protocol. For most US installations, this will be NI-1. In Europe, this will be typically EDSS. If you are not sure which switch type to use, contact your telephone company. Click Next. 6. Enter your SPIDs (US only) and phone numbers. 7. Click Next to continue, and then Finish. NOTE: During the copy operation, Windows 95 over-writes some of its own system files. If a dialog box appears reporting that a file on your system (eg: NDIS.VXD) has a later date than the one being copied, keepthe more recent file. That is, answer "Yes" meaning you will keep the one on your system and skip the copy operation for that file. 8. Restart your computer. Note: To reconfigure your card (SPIDs and, or Phone Numbers), use the Start menu icon: Choose: Programs->Accessories->ISDN tools->ISDN Configuration Wizard.
