     Microsoft Windows 98
     Microsoft Windows Me

  3. SUPPORTED PRODUCTS

     Model Number of Ports
     --------------------------------------
     Digi Neo 2
     Digi Neo 4
     Digi Neo 8

     ClassicBoard PCI 8
     ClassicBoard EIA-422 PCI 8

  4. KNOWN LIMITATIONS

For certain motherboard chipsets, Windows 95, 98 and Me will
fail to assign the ClassicBoard PCI an IRQ. Consequently,
the card's ports will be inaccessible.

If Windows fails to open any ClassicBoard PCI port after what
appears to be a successful installation, first check that
the ClassicBoard PCI is assigned an IRQ:

     1. From the Start menu, choose Settings > Control Panel >
System > Device Manager. View devices by type should
already have been selected by default.
     2. Expand the Multi-port Serial Cards category (click on
the plus-in-the-box to expand the list of serial cards).
     3. Highlight the ClassicBoard PCI card and choose Properties.
     4. Select the Resources tab.
     5. Under Resource settings should be an Interrupt Request
Resource type. If you don't see an Interrupt Request
listed, you may need to upgrade the PCI IRQ Routing
        Miniport Driver.

If the ClassicBoard PCI is not assigned an IRQ, next
     examine the PCI bus properties:

     1. From the Start menu, choose Settings > Control Panel >
        System > Device Manager.
     2. Expand the System devices category.
     3. Highlight the PCI bus device and choose Properties.
     4. Select the IRQ Steering tab.
     5. Use IRQ Steering should be checked. If not, enable
IRQ steering and reboot Windows before continuing.
     6. Lastly, look at the IRQ Routing Status information.
If the device is functioning properly, Windows will
report both IRQ Steering Enabled and IRQ Miniport
Loaded successfully. Otherwise, Windows will report
IRQ Steering Disabled and Miniport rejected IRQ Table.

If Windows reports IRQ Steering Disabled, you need to
upgrade the PCI IRQ Routing Miniport driver. This driver
can be downloaded from the chipset manufacturer's Web site.
To identify which chipset your motherboard uses, refer to
the hardware documentation that accompanied your computer.

Following are links to the Web sites of chipset manufacturers
for which this problem has been identified. Note that this
list is incomplete and that we cannot guarantee that the
provided Web site addresses are valid. Download and install
the miniport driver at your own risk.

  5. UPDATING THE DRIVER

To update the driver, follow these steps:

o Close the Device Manager if it is running.

o Unzip the driver archive to a folder of your choice.

o Run DIGICLCL.BAT to remove any previous INF file versions.

o Next, open the Device Manager:

        - Open Start > Settings > Control Panel.

        - Run the control panel named "System".

        - Click the "Device Manager" tab.

o Find and open the "Multi-port Serial Cards" category.

o Display the properties dialog for the device you would like
      to update.

    o Click the "Driver" tab.

o Choose "Update Driver..." to run the Update Device Driver
      Wizard.

    o Choose "Next >".

o The default radio button should be selected, "Search for a
better driver than the one your device is using now."
      Choose "Next >".

    o Deselect all radio buttons.

o Select the radio button entitled, "Specify a location:".

o Enter the path to the updated driver files (the directory
to which you unpacked the archive) or click "Browse..." to
graphically search for and select the directory.

o Choose "Next >" after you have entered the directory path.

o The Update Device Driver Wizard now searches for new driver
files and will display the path to any found. Verify that
the path indicated by "Location of driver" matches the path
to the files you unpacked. Then, choose "Next >".

o Choose "Finish" to complete the wizard. You will be prompted
to reboot. Choose "Yes" to complete the update.
