1) ISDN Characteristics
   ====================

   Driver
   ------
   - Common ISDN API (CAPI) version 2.0 Driver
   - Wan Miniport Driver (32 Bit)
   - COM-Port Driver (16/32 Bit)

   D-Channel Protocols Supported
   -----------------------------
   - Europe:    Euro-ISDN (DSS1), Q.SIG
   - USA:       NI-1 (Auto Spid Detection), 5ESS, DMS-100
   - Japan:     INS64
   - Australia: TPH1962

   B-Channel Protocols Supported
   -----------------------------
   - Bit Transparent
   - HDLC Transparent
   - ISO 7776 (X.75 SLP)
   - T.90 NL with compatibility T.70 NL
   - ISO 8208 (X.25 DTE-DTE)
   - X.31
   - T.30 for FAX group 3
   - T.30 for FAX group 3 with extensions
   - V.110 asynchronous operation
     (auto detect 9600 Bit/s, 19200 Bit/s, 38400 Bit/s)
   - V.110 synchronous operation (56 kBit/s)
   - V.120 asynchronous mode
   - Modem V.34 (max. 28800 Bit/s)

   For support of FAX group 3 functionality and Modem
   emulation the minimum system requirements are a 90MHz
   Pentium processor (133MHz recommended) and 32MB
   main memory.

   The driver supports FAX sending and receiving with
   max. 14400 Bit/s on both B channels.
   The driver supports a modem emulation with a maximum bit rate of
   28800 Bit/s on one B channel.

   The processor load is important for error free FAX
   and Modem transmission. In case of disturbed data
   connections please select a lower transmission rate
   in your application or avoid the parallel using of
   FAX resp. Modem with other applications.

2) Installation
   ============
    To install the card driver software, open the 'Network'
    applet in the control panel, select the tab 'Adapters'
    and click on 'Add'. Press 'Have Disk' in the following
    dialog, type in the path where the installation files
    are located (e.g. 'a:') and click on 'OK'.
    Select your DataFire adapter from the list and follow the
    installation instructions.

    If you want to configure the adapter (concerning the
    D-Channel protocol), go to the 'Adapter'-tab as described
    above, select your DataFire adapter and click on 'Properties'.
    For detailed information about settings see the manual.

    Consult your Windows NT documentation if you have
    any further questions on the network setup and
    the Remote Access Service!

3) Update of driver
   ================

   If you want to update the installed driver please proceed as follows.

   The version of the already installed ISDN card driver is important for the
   update procedure.
   If the driver you are currently using is a version
   before the version 2.50 it is a ITK Version of the driver.
   You have to deinstall this driver first and reboot your system before
   you can install the new driver.

   For the deinstallation please proceed the following steps:
   Go to the Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs, select the ISDN card
   driver, click on the button "Remove" and follow the upcoming dialogs.
   After you have deinstalled the old driver and installed the new driver
   you have to install the Digi ISDN Tools. If you do not install this
   tools you can not use Columbus software without problems.
   You can find the Digi ISDN Tools on the Digi driver CD under the point
   "Additional components" or download these tools from the Digi Webserver.

   If your currently installed driver is a version 2.50 or higher (Digi Version)
   you can update the driver without deinstalling the driver as follows:
   Open the 'Network'applet in the control panel, select the tab 'Adapters',
   highlight the Digi ISDN adapter and click the button "Update",
   specify in the upcoming dialog the path where the new driver
   is located and follow the installation procedure as described in chapter 2.

4) CAPI2.0 Driver
   ==============

   The Windows NT CAPI 2.0 Interface supports the
   interfaces for 16 bit programs (capi20.dll),
   32 bit programs (capi2032.dll) and kernel mode
   drivers.

5) WAN Miniport Driver
   ===================

   This version of the Windows NT drivers contains
   an NDIS WAN Miniport driver that can be used for
   dial-up networking under Windows NT 4.0.

   The WAN Miniport parameters can be configured
   on the "WAN Miniport" property tab within the
   properties of the ISDN adapter.
   (go Control Panel - Network)
   These items concern remote access connections in general.

   If you are running a Windows NT Workstation as RAS
   server (allows dial-in) you must make sure that the
   first ISDN port is configured for dial-in, not the
   second. If the second was configured for dial-in by
   mistake, due to a conceptional problem within
   Microsoft's RAS management you might get into
   problems on incoming calls.

   If you are using the dial-up network in conjunction
   with callback, you ought to make sure that the
   "RAS Server Service" is not running. Otherwise
   the ISDN port that has previously been used by
   a callback connection won't be released by RAS again
   (RAS problem). If you run into this problem, you can
   stop the RAS Server Service within Control Panel -
   Services. Then the ISDN port becomes available again.

6) Digi ISDN COM-Port Driver
   =========================

   The Digi ISDN COM-Port Driver can be installed from
   the Digi "Access Resource" CD under the point "Additional
   Components".

   With the ISDN COM-Port you are able to use software which
   requires a COM-Port or a Windows modem to access the ISDN
   Card.

   The ISDN COM-Port offers easy access to AOL, CompuServe,
   T-Online, Bulletin Board Systems or your Internet service
   provider.

   You will find further information about installation and
   configuration of ISDN-Ports and ISDN-Modems in the program
   group "Digi ISDN COM-Port" respectively "Digi ISDN Tools"
   or in the file iComNT.pdf in the ISDN-COM Port installation
   directory.

7) Notes for using PCMCIA Adapter
   ==============================

   For correct operation under Windows NT it is required,
   that the PCMCIA adapter is inserted in the PC before
   the start of Windows NT. You should not remove the
   PCMCIA adapter while Windows NT is active.

   We recommend to insert or remove the PCMICA adapter
   only if the PC is switched off.

8) Operation on Multiprocessor Platforms
   =====================================

   This Release Version supports unlimited operation in
   Multiprocessor environments.

9) Compatibility to 3rd Party Products
   ===================================

   WinFax Pro 9.0
   --------------
   While installation of WinFax Pro 9.0 select
   "Generic ISDN (CAPI 2.0)" driver.
   Please set properties for this driver to
   packetsize of 2048 Byte (Default 128 Byte).
