To completely remove the Digi driver from the hard drive and the registry perform the following steps: 1. Go into Control Panel, Network. Highlight the Digi adapter. Select Properties (or Configure for NT 3.51) to view the existing configuration. Make a note of these settings. Click on Cancel. Then click on Remove to remove the Digi adapter. Close the Network applet. When given the option to restart your system, select "Do Not Restart Now". 2. Go into Windows Explorer (or File Manager for NT 3.51). Go to the //system32 directory. Verify that the dgconfig.cnt, dgconfig.dll, and dgconfig.hlp files have been renamed are deleted. If they have not, rename or delete these files. Go into the /drivers subdirectory of this path. Verify that the digifep5.sys file has been renamed to digifep5.old or deleted. If it has not, rename or delete this file. Check for the next file based on the adapter type you have (see table below). Go into the registry by selecting File, Run, REGEDT32. Go to the /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services path and look for a DIGIFEP5 key. If this key is present, highlight and delete this key. Check for the next keys based on the adapter type you have (see the table below). Delete the following keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/digiboard HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/digi HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows NT/Current Version/Network Cards/# NOTE: Delete only the # which have DGAPCI, XE, XR, XEM or Digi in them. CAUTION: Careless editing of the registry may have disasterous results and require a complete reinstall of the Windows NT operating system. If you are not familiar with the NT registry, please contact Digi Tech Support for assistance before proceeding. 4. Reboot the system. The Digi driver has been completely removed. Make sure a Network card is present in the system or the Microsoft Loopback adapter is installed. You must reboot ater installing the Network Card or the MS Loopback adapter before installing the DIGI board. You may now follow the normal installation procedure for the NT driver.
