IBM OS/2 Print Spooler People often call DigiBoard Technical support asking how to increase the number of print spooler ports with IBM OS/2. This is especially useful for those using a LAN. The following procedure will add five print spooler ports. This procedure should only be attempted be experienced OS/2 editor users. ******************************************************************************** Instructions to increase IBM OS/2 to 9 Printer Spooler Ports The IBM print spooler only supports Com1 thru Com4. To increase to 9 com ports, do the following: Change directory to \OS2 Backup the file inisys.rc Example: copy inisys.rc inisys.rrr Backup the file os2sys.ini Example copy os2sys.ini os2sys.iii Note: this is to help recover in case you make a mistake. Edit inisys.rc. Look for lines that begin with "PM_SPOOLER_PORT". Add com5 thru com9. (recommend that you use the copy and paste method to create the new lines to avoid syntax errors). Use caution to avoid duplicates. Save inisys.rc Boot from floppy or another OS/2 partition. ( To boot from floppy, boot using the installation diskette, then insert diskette 1, press Esc when the install menu appears to display the command prompt). Change directory to \OS2 and run the following utility: MAKEINI OS2SYS.INI INISYS.RC Reboot OS/2 Users should now be able to spool print jobs to com 1-9.
