Application Notes Installing RealPort in AIX ___________________________________________________________________________________________ Instructions to Install/Remove/Upgrade the Realport Driver for AIX 4.X, and Adding a Portserver, TTY and LP Device to the System. TO INSTALL THE REALPORT DRIVER: From AIX command prompt: installp -a all From smit: Software Installation and Maintenance Install and Update Software Install and Update from LATEST Available Software INPUT device / directory for software [] /dev/fd0 for diskette or SOFTWARE to install [digiasync.ncxa.obj] PREVIEW only? (install operation will NOT occur)[no] SAVE relpaced files? [yes] TO ADD PORTSERVER TO SYSTEM: smit devices Digi Portservers Add a Portserver Select appropriate PS type that is being added INTERNET NAME INTERNET ADDRESS Enter PS node name or PS IP address, not both. A sa device will be created for the PS, make sure that it is available TO ADD TTY DEVICES: smit tty Add a TTY rs232 Asychronous Terminal Select appropriate sa device Enter appropriate entries then enter to save TO ADD LP DEVICES: smit printer Printer/Plotter Devices Add Printer/Plotter Select appropriate printer rs232 Select appropriate sa device Enter appropriate entries then enter to save TO REMOVE APPLIED DRIVER: Remove all associated Realport tty, lp and sa devices; rmdev -l (device) -R -d smit Software Installation and Maintenance Software Maintenance and Utilities Remove Installed Software SOFTWARE name [digiasync.ncxa.obj] PREVIEW only? (install operation will NOT occur) [no] CONFIGURING THE PORTSERVER FOR USE WITH REALPORT: After Realport is installed and the Portserver sa device is available: Login to the Portserver as root then type the following commands: set port dev=prn auto=off ra=#-# set flow altpin=on range=#-# (#-# = Range of ports to use realport, ie: 1-16) NOTE: All other settings should remain at factory default.
